Celebrating Women's History Month, we are delighted to present two exceptionally talented women lawyers of Turkic origins Diora Ziyaeva from Dentons and Ekin İnal from Norton Rose Fulbright who are leading the way in their big law career. Diora Ziyaeva is a Counsel at Dentons New York. Her practice focuses on international investment arbitration, international commercial arbitration, complex commercial litigation, and public international law. Licensed in New York and Uzbekistan, Diora has over a decade of experience representing corporate clients, States and State-owned entities in investor-state and commercial arbitration proceedings, both institutional and ad hoc, as well as post-arbitral disputes (annulment and enforcement) for both private and public operators, under numerous bilateral/multilateral investment treaties and contracts, successfully handling cases ranging in value from $10 million to $20 billion, with experience in energy, oil and gas, mining, telecommunications, construction, and aerospace disputes in Latin America, Central Asia, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Oceania and Africa.
Diora also advises parties in international litigations involving proceedings in foreign and domestic courts, and has represented parties before the federal and state courts in the United States, including the United States Supreme Court. Diora is a Certified Mediator by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution. She is a Council member for the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR). Diora serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Cornell Law School, where she teaches the Practice of International Arbitration, and at Fordham University School of Law, where she teaches Investment Treaty Arbitration.
Ekin İnal is a partner at İnal Ünver Attorney Partnership, in association with Norton Rose Fulbright. Ekin’s practice focuses on corporate and finance transactions. She provides legal counselling and advice to domestic and international companies operating in a wide range of sectors, including financial services, energy, infrastructure, mining, real estate and retail. She regularly advises clients in finance transactions (including project financings, corporate financings and ECA-backed financings), mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions. She also advises foreign and domestic clients on their day-to-day businesses, including foreign investment, corporate law, employment law and data privacy issues. Ekin is a graduate of Galatasaray University (LL.B., 2006) and Columbia University (LL.M., 2010). She is qualified to practice law in Turkey and New York.
Cem is a SJD candidate at Harvard Law School. He graduated top of his class from Koc Law School (Istanbul) and earned his LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School. Cem's research interest include constitutional law and comparative public law. He is a member of the NY State Bar.
